Made With Care

Freshness & Food Safety

Cold-pressed juice is a living, raw food — and we treat it that way. Here's exactly how we keep what you drink fresh, clean and safe, from our family kitchen to your hands.

How we keep your juice safe

Cold-pressed & raw — and why we keep it cold

Our juice is cold-pressed and never pasteurized. Pasteurization uses heat, which dulls the flavor and cooks off some of the nutrients and natural enzymes we want you to get. We'd rather keep the juice raw and alive — and keep it cold and fresh to make up for skipping the heat.

That's why we ask you to keep it refrigerated and enjoy it within about 72 hours (or freeze it up to 6 months). And, as with any raw, unpasteurized juice: if you're pregnant, feeding very young children, elderly, or have a weakened immune system, it's wise to check with your doctor first. We'd rather be upfront than leave you guessing.

A note for the curious: our fresh-brewed teas and infused elderberry syrup are made differently from the raw juices — they're brewed or simmered with heat and then chilled, rather than pressed raw. We still keep them just as cold and fresh, with the same keep-it-refrigerated handling.

What's on every bottle

We're proud to be transparent — here's the information you'll find on each label, including exactly what Texas and the FDA ask raw-juice makers to share:

We put these right on the bottle because trusting us with what your family drinks is a big deal — and we don't take it lightly.

Made under the Texas Cottage Food Law

Texas law lets families like ours make and sell certain foods — including fresh juice — directly from a home kitchen. We make the most of that the right way: we sell directly to you (at pickup, events and by the batch), we keep everything cold and clean, and we've gone and gotten registered and certified rather than just doing the minimum.

Common questions

Is your cold-pressed juice safe to drink?

Yes. We make it in small batches in a clean, food-handler-certified home kitchen, keep every bottle cold (at or below 41°F) from press to pickup, and seal and label it for you. Because it's raw and unpasteurized, we ask you to keep it refrigerated and enjoy it fresh.

Why don't you pasteurize your juice?

Pasteurization uses heat, which dulls flavor and reduces some nutrients and natural enzymes. We keep our juice raw and cold-pressed instead — and keep it cold and fresh to make up for skipping the heat. As with any raw juice, if you're pregnant, very young, elderly, or have a weakened immune system, check with your doctor first.

How should I store it, and how long does it last?

Keep it refrigerated and enjoy within about 72 hours for the best taste, or freeze up to 6 months and thaw in the fridge. Give it a gentle shake before drinking — natural settling is normal for real juice with nothing added. (More tips on our Fresh Ideas page.)

What does "made under the Texas Cottage Food Law" mean?

It means we make our juice in our own family home kitchen, which Texas law allows us to sell directly to you. We're DSHS-registered for refrigerated foods, food-handler certified, and a Homemade Texas Verified Seller — so a home kitchen doesn't mean cutting corners.
